Chief Executive
London Salary circa £80,000
Overcoming prejudice, ignorance and fear may not be easy, but its absolutely crucial. And, as the largest charity working with asylum seekers and refugees across the UK, its what we need to do. Our work, campaigning for their rights and helping them to rebuild their lives, is:
professional Our 300 staff at 5 locations deliver effective services to high standards of management and accountability from an annual income of £16m in an environment of volatile need patterns and funding streams;
voluntary In addition to our own 350 volunteers we are a membership
organisation and support the refugee community sector, much of which
has no paid staff;
vital Every month events put at fresh risk tens of thousands of people around the world, especially women and children. For the 2% who come to Britain, their right is safety. Commonly their experience is hostility, destitution and a return to persecution. You may not previously have worked for the rights of refugees and asylum seekers or on international issues (though these experiences would be helpful).
But do you have:
experience at senior level of managing people in a values-led environment, and of taking and implementing difficult strategic decisions about the allocation of resources;
exceptional communication skills, courage and passion, a commitment to voluntary effort, and ideally, experience of cross-sectoral partnerships, service delivery and fundraising;
the intellectual capability and experience of dealing with policy to maximise the impact for refugees and asylum seekers of our respected independence in policy development and research?
If so, and if you are ready to provide leadership at chief executive level of the highest quality and integrity, we would like to hear from you.
