An international cafι is a type of breakout session geared to maximising opportunities for circulation and networking for participants. Involving discussions around specific themes for groups of around six people, each session lasts around 20 minute. Participants then move on to another cafι table for a discussion about a new topic.
The topics we are planning to discuss are:
Arguing for migrant rights Networks in cities/regions
Immigration policy Social inclusion/anti-poverty
Gender issues Refugees and asylum
EU migration Uniting old and new migrants
Worker and workplace issues Civic and regional policy
Migrants and development Undocumented migrants
Drawing in civil society orgs. Migrants and health
National campaigning Public opinion and the media
There are also possibilities for organising tables based on languages (French, Kurdish, Polish, Farsi, etc) depending on demand. If you would like to participate in a language-based discussion, please let us know using the other information section of the registration form.
The outcome of an international cafι discussion is that participants will have had the opportunity to participate in discussion around a number of themes that interest them, and will have met others sharing the same interests. Feel free to bring publications, brochures, etc form your projects to share these during discussion.
3:15 Concluding discussion: Can we make a migrants rights network work?
Panel made up of migrant rights activists from Scotland, Wales, the North West, Eastern England, West Midlands and London.
