Job Description
The Asylum Support Programme Inter-Agency Partnership was formed following the implementation of the 1999 Immigration and Asylum Act and consists of six agencies - Refugee Council, Refugee Action, Refugee Arrivals Project, Scottish Refuee Council, Welsh Refugee Council and Migrant Helpline - with Refugee Council having the overall co-ordinating role. It exists to co-ordinate and negotiate the services each agency provides to asylum seekers on behalf of the Home Office's National Asylum Support Services (NASS).
The main purpose of this post is to work at the most senior level within the agencies; to co-ordinate the work of the voluntary agencies' relationships with NASS and other statutory and voluntary bodies at a senior level. The postholder leads a small team within the Refugee Council consisting of the Co-ordinator, the Information and Research Co-ordinator, the Policy and Development Advisor, the Programme Development Advisor and the Administrative Co-ordinator.
