The Humanitarian Centre: Cambridge Initiatives for International Relief
and Development, is seeking a co-ordinator to build and steer the

A unique and exciting opportunity, the role-holder will steer the
creation and growth of a new 'hub' organisation with a membership of
Cambridge-based initiatives dedicated to the global relief of poverty
and suffering. As the co-ordinator of a new initiative, a role akin to
that of a general secretary, the post has scope for a great deal of
dynamism and personal innovation both in shaping the direction of the
Humanitarian Centre and in defining the post itself.

The post requires a person with 3-5 years experience in building
organisations, project management, fundraising and administration. The
role-holder will be confident liaising at a high level within the
academic, governmental and international relief and development sectors.
Excellent skills in communication and networking are essential. A
passion for, and experience of, relief and development issues is
essential, and field experience in the sector and developing country
exposure is desirable. Flexibility can be build into the post for
candidates with commitments in this sector.

The Humanitarian Centre is a new umbrella initiative seeking to further
collectively the humanitarian and developmental missions of
Cambridge-based voluntary organisations, local business and academia by
bringing together local organisations that act globally. The Centre will
support both its younger and more established members to become more
than the sum of their parts through fostering a community of
collaboration, skills and resource sharing and though catalysing the
transformation of academic research into practice. The Centre is
currently a University of Cambridge society and will become a charity in
the near future.

Funded for one year in the first instance with the possibility of
funding for two and subsequent years.

Salary in the region of 25,000 p.a.

suitability for the role and motivation for applying by 23^rd June to . Interviews will be held in two
rounds, with the first on 5^th July. This will in part involve a
five-minute presentation on a topic announced to short-listed candidates.
