'Refugees into Business' web site went live on World Refugee Day, 20 June

'Refugees into Business' is a project funded by the Small Business Services and led by Refugee Council as part of the Refugee Enterprise Partnership which includes Refugee Action, Refugee Women's Association, Prince's Trust, Social Enterprise London, Community Action Network and RETAS. We have just launched a brand new website aimed at making it easier for refugees to set up in business. Information is being sent to over 12,000 subscribers to Refugee Council's newletter - please tell your networks and contacts about it.

The site, www.refugeesintobusiness.org.uk , has all sorts of advice and resources for would-be refugee entrepreneurs and those who want to help them get started:

A self-help guide on how to start-up a business in the UK
A basic business advice toolkit for advisers in refugee communities
A refugee awareness toolkit for mainstream business advisers
Details on training available

The RIB team will be vigorously promoting the site over the coming months as well as piloting some of the materials in training events and activities in the North West and West Midlands. Not only is it hoped that the result will be that more refugees will start successful businesses but also that the potential contribution of refugees to the UK economy will be better understood and valued.
