Full-time Researcher/Administrator

One-Year Fixed Term Contract, renewable for a second year
Start date: 1 September 2006

The Migration and Citizenship Research Initiative at UCD has received
funding for a two-year project on developing cross-sector research
collaborations and practices in the areas of immigration and=20
integration policy in Ireland.

The successful candidate will have (1) excellent administrative skills
essential for assisting overall project management and supporting
activities involved in conducting several small ?seed? research=20
projects addressing a variety of immigration-related topics, the=20
delivery of a series of public lectures and specialized training=20
workshops and (2) working knowledge of research practices and=20
basic research skills necessary for such activities as desk research,=20
report/grant writing and publication/website development, and
international research/policy networking in these areas and=20
(3) familiarity with the social/policy landscape of immigration=20
in the Irish context.

Candidates with relevant previous experience in academic, statutory=20
OR civil society sectors are welcome to apply.

We are seeking an individual who has fantastic organizational skills,
great initiative, an impressive ability to work independently and with
people from a variety of different sectors and communities, an
enthusiastic willingness to learn, who enjoys a diversity of
responsibilities and being part of a team.

This post will be demanding, however, the successful candidate=20
will not only be well supported by MCRI staff, but s/he will have=20
the opportunity to take advantage of numerous training and career=20
development activities, depending on the particularities of his/her=20
experience and career plans. This post is therefore ideal for an=20
individual who is interested in refining her/his existing skills or=20
making a transition to a new field or area of expertise.

Salary is in the range of ?30,000.

Essential

immigration-related areas
* Interest in pursuing a career in an academic, statutory or civil
society field related to immigration or similar area
